The Wallace

Wallace Hotel, Keresley Rd, Coventry CV6 2JF, UK – 024 7633 5627

Food was decent considering the head chef rang in ill, apprentice took charge with barman and no complaints with the food. The staff were superb until about 9pm when one got a bit miffed that we had kids there still and were asked to leave on a couple of occasions. They were doing no harm. Other than that, decent pub for a few drinks, watching football or sports in general and a bite to eat.

The Wallace offers great food at very reasonable prices. The food is hot and fresh, and the atmosphere is nice and welcoming. I take each of our 2 lads here individually for some one to one time and its a perfect venue for some quality chill time. Staff have always been friendly and polite and there are lots of food options. We love the Wallace.

The Vale

Slug & Lettuce

The Old County Hall, Bayley Ln, Coventry CV1 5RN, UK – 024 7622 2727

My first visit since the re franchising. Pleased to see the interior has maintained its court house heritage. Staff very pleasant. If you are a wheelchair user don't be put off by the entrance steps, there is easy access through the patio area. Only stayed for a drink as had already booked a table elsewhere. But the food looked very nice from what I could see. However I would have liked a cocktail but found them rather expensive. If you are able to take advantage of the 2for1 offer it's fine. But if not it's very expensive for what looked like a large glass of ice and not too much drink.

Just popped in today for a coffee. I was very impressed the building is an old courthouse wit wood panels round the walls and a balcony above the court crest/ coat of arms is still in place. The bar was clean and tidy and the seating was comfortable. The bar staff were friendly and helpful. And the Cappuccino tasted great. I was driving so could not sample the beer on offer so cannot comment on that. Maybe next time.
